Full car audio system with DSP wiring diagram
A DSP (digital signal processor) sits between the head unit and the amps and splits the audio by frequency. Tweeters get the highs, midranges get the mids, midbass drivers get the low mids, and the subwoofer gets the lows. Each driver only sees the frequencies it plays best, so nothing runs outside its range. The signal path here starts at the factory head unit and goes into a NavTV Zen M, a line-out converter that turns the head unit's output into a fiber-optic feed for a Helix P-Six 6-channel amp/DSP. The Helix P-Six drives the front stage (tweeters, midranges, and midbass), while a separate mono amp handles the subwoofer.
